why is the jewellery lent out?
The purpose of the loan scheme is to bring the jewellery purchased by the Danish Arts Foundation into the public realm and to promote awareness of Danish art jewellery and Danish jewellery makers.
Generally, the artworks purchased by the Danish Arts Foundation have to be available to state, municipal or other institutions with public access. Thus, for many years, the Danish Arts Foundation has placed works of art in public institutions throughout the country on permanent loan.
In 2007, the Danish Arts Foundation came up with an idea for similarly bringing the unique pieces of jewellery purchased by the foundation into the public realm. Since jewellery is designed to be worn, it seemed an obvious idea to lend the pieces out so they could be put to use and on display at the same time.
