DANISH GOLD AND SILVER at koldinghus

Museet på Koldinghus will extend and add to its collection of silverware and jewellery, so that it encompasses pieces from all parts of Denmark and covers the period from the Renaissance to the present day, including:
. a representative selection of goldsmiths and silversmiths from all parts of Denmark
. examples of all types of silverware and jewellery, both representative pieces and items for everyday use.

Emphasis will be placed on twentieth century Danish silverware and jewellery. Pieces from earlier periods will be presented within the context of developments leading towards the twentieth century.
The collection will illustrate both similarities and differences in terms of geographical origin and historical periods, as well as developments in style. Development and change from a cultural historical perspective will also be illustrated, not least in connection with the older works.

Foreign works of gold and silver can be included in the collection to the extent that they either have links to developments in Danish silverware and jwellery, served as models for Danish silverware and jewellery, or were influenced by Danish silverware and jewellery.

The scope of the Museum of Gold and Silver at Koldinghus will be extended by new acquisitions of silver and jewellery and by items that are borrowed or taken on permanent loan. The primary aim is to create a comprehensive and cohesive exhibition of Danish silverware and jewellery.

The museum will also promote and participate in research into Danish silverware and jewellery, both in-house and in other contexts.
