The Karl Gustav Hansen Prize

The Karl Gustav Hansen Prize was founded in 2001 by Udviklingsfonden for Museet på Koldinghus.

The aims of the prize are:
.  to encourage Danish silversmiths to continue working with hollowware
.  to add contemporary hollowware to the silver collection at Koldinghus.

The prize is awarded to a Danish silversmith. In special cases it can be awarded to a foreign silversmith who works within the Danish silver tradition. The prize is awarded annually.

The Karl Gustav Hansen Prize is named after the silversmith Karl Gustav Hansen (1914-2002), who was one of the most important figures amongst Danish silversmiths in the twentieth century, and for many years the artistic force behind Hans Hansen Sølvsmedie A/S, Kolding.
